SHENANDOAH VALLEY TECHNOLOGY CONSORTIUM ENHANCING EDUCATION THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
NETS*T certification

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has created National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS*T). These standards promote effective technology integration in the classroom. Teaching with technology has been shown to increase student achievement, and this is the overarching goal of the SVTC EdTech grant.

We are encouraging all teachers within our consortium to become NETS*T certified. View complete list of NETS*T certified educators.

SVTC's online NETS*T certification system can be found here.

How evaluation occurs

Each division has at least one educator trained as a NETS*T evaluator. Most divisions have several trained evaluators. When you submit an artifact to be evaluated, each evaluator in your division receives an email notification of the pending evaluation. Once an evaluator views and scores your artifact, the results will automatically appear when you log in to the system and view your status. (If you Meet the standard, a green box will appear in your status chart.)

Once certified

To achieve certification, you must Meet each performance indicator of each standard. (All the boxes must be green.)

When you have are NETS*T certified, notify Kelly Lineweaver to receive an Equipment Request Form. You will be eligible to receive technology resources of your choice after submitting a plan detailing how the resources will benefit your classroom instruction. You must be on a teacher salary scale at the time of certification in order to receive equipment. If you leave the school division, NETS*T resources will stay with the division. The total value of the technology resources will depend on the total number of participants.
